Crowe Takes the Zoo
May 17th 2010 21:48
Cameron Crowe has agreed to direct We Bought a Zoo.
True story centers on a widowed father who buys a dilapidated zoo in hopes of making a fresh start. Facing enormous odds, he and his children, along with a small but loyal staff, work to get the zoo re-opened. It sounds like a family movie, which I hope is true.
The studio just finalized Crowe's deal and has dated the movie for the choice slot of December 23, 2011.
Crowe is rewriting the script, which is based on a memoir by Benjamin Mee. When he finishes his draft, the studio will start looking for top-tier male lead.
The last time Crowe was behind the camera was in 2005 when he directed Elizabethtown. He came close to a couple of projects in between, but it looks like We Bought a Zoo will stick to Crowe.
