The Hunger Games Book, Character Posters, Trailer

The first time I heard about The Hunger Games one of my daughter’s swim teammates’ mother was reading the book on her Kindle. Though I as at first interested in the Kindle, the mother proceeded to tell me how good “The Hunger Games” book series was to read – a page turner. Her husband was fascinated by Suzanne Collin’s books as well.
The book series did not interest me because the story seemed to dark for me to read, though I love Harry Potter, a dark story at time. Then, my daughter’s adviser at her school recommend the book, suggesting I read it first to see if it was “proper” for my daughter to read or read it with my daughter.
I decided not to read the series, but after looking at the trailer, I have second thoughts. I plan to purchase the first book at Barnes & Noble with the intent to read it with my daughter every night until we are through the series by the opening of the movie.
The Hunger Games movie is directed by Gary Ross, with a screenplay by Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins and Billy Ray, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik.
Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy published by Scholastic that has over 12 million copies in print in the United States alone, has developed a massive global following. It has spent more than 157 consecutive weeks, more than three consecutive years to date on The New York Times bestseller list since its publication in September 2008, and has also appeared consistently on USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists.
