Ellen Page and Rainn Wilson in The Crimson Bolt Fights SXSW Crime

Dark comedies have the ability to miss the beat of being funny or they rock and jive us to hilarity. I have a short from SXSW 2011. The Crimson Bolt (Rainn Wilson) and sidekick Boltie (Ellen Page) have traveled to Austin to speak with Personal Security Expert Frank Corpus about crime during the 2011 SXSW Film Festival. See The Crimson Bolt hit the dangerous streets of Austin to take the city back!
Let me tell you a little bit about the movie and you will see why it’s a black comedy. A sad-sack loser Frank (Rainn Wilson) sees his ex-addict wife (Liv Tyler) willingly be snatched by a seductive drug dealer (Kevin Bacon).
Frank is distraught, and finds himself bereft and wholly unable to cope. But soon he decides to fight back under the guise of a DIY superhero called Crimson Bolt.
He dons a hand-made suit, carries a wrench and is accompanied by a crazed sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page). The Crimson Bolt beats his way through the mean streets of crime in hopes of saving his wife.
“The rules were written a long time ago: You are not supposed to molest children, cut lines or key cars; if you do, prepare to face the wrath of the Crimson Bolt!”
After seeing this short film and the movie interests you, you can see Super in theaters nationwide, and is now available on demand via ‘IFC In Theaters’ on Comcast, Cox, Cablevision, Time Warner and Bright House. It’s also on DirecTV Channel 125.
