Sunday in New York: Adorable Fonda Frolic
February 16th 2011 00:02
Love is still in the air at the WarnerArchive.com as we celebrate the recent release of several romantic favorites including Sunday in New York.
Jane Fonda is adorable in this easy flowing, romp of romance and comedy. Before she became a great star, a two-time Academy Award winner and fitness guru, Fonda was a screen ingénue who sent a string of bubbly romantic comedies soaring, including this charmer from the prolific pen of Norman Krasna (Bachelor Mother, The Devil and Miss Jones).
The New York Times writes a wonderful review about the movie.
Fonda portrays a virginal miss blessed with long limbs and a knockout profile who runs off from her fiancé (Robert Culp) to the swingin' pad of her brother (Cliff Robertson) and then into the arms of a guy she meets on the 5th Avenue bus (Rod Taylor) -- all the while trying to decide if she'll say "yes" before she says "I do."
While I watched this movie, which I have many times through the years, I say, “I want to see more movies like this!”
Sure, Fonda is a knockout beauty but let’s give a whistle to her three leading men!
Filmed on location, Sunday in New York is a fun, sophisticated frolic set to a hip Peter Nero score that features Mel Torme singing the title tune.
