Movie Roar - Hear the Movies Roar!

Review: Marry Me Party!

December 12th 2010 17:41

Lifetime sent me a huge box of party materials for 12 guests to party with me as we watch the screener for the Lifetime movie Marry Me, starring Lucy Liu.

We ate Chinese food to and laughed out loud as Liu’s character, Rae Ann Carter tangled herself with three hot looking me from diverse backgrounds that could only happen in fairy tales. Liu was the only Asian in the movie, so the Chinese food seemed appropriate.

I am toasting to the movie!

Marry Me is about Rae, who is a single aspiring-artist-turned-social -worker. She always wanted a fairy-tale romance — to fall madly in love and live happily ever after. My guests laughed out loud on that idea,, but it was fun to watch and make-believe.

But when her two-year relationship falls apart, Rae unexpectedly falls for a new man, Luke, who asks her to marry him after a few short dates. We all thought Luke was too good to be true. We felt he was hiding something, but then he would do the sweetest things.

Just as everything seems to fall into place for Rae, her ex-boyfriend Adam suddenly re-emerges into her life with a proposal of his own. One of my guests, thought Rae should have told Adam "Take a hike and get lost!" because he had dumped her for a research project that involved taking pictures of frogs.

Things get even further complicated when a third man, smitten by Rae, enters the picture and asks for her hand in marriage, as well. With three men after her heart, who will be Rae’s Prince Charming?

I am not going to tell you the end, but it's worth finding out. The story is sweet with funny, funny characters and situations. We all agreed that Rae's mom (Annie Potts) is hilarious and the best character out of the whole cast.

Marry Me is a Lifetime Television original miniseries event that premieres tonight! And, airs over two nights: Sunday, December 12th and Monday, December 13th at 9pm ET/PT on both evenings.
