Legacy Riveting Trailer

October 4th 2010 03:46

LEGACY, starring Idris Elba (Takers, The Wire) will be released theatrically in nine major U.S. markets on Friday, October 15. Anchored by Elba's riveting performance as a former black-ops soldier caught up in paranoia-inducing political intrigue, LEGACY is an action-infused psychological thriller that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Its strong ensemble cast includes Eamonn Walker (HBO's Oz, Cadillac Records), Monique Gabriela Curnen (The Dark Knight, Half Nelson) and Clarke Peters (HBO's Treme', The Wire).

LEGACY will open in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Detroit and Houston. It is also being showcased at leading international festivals throughout 2010 and is amassing a growing number of prestigious commendations. These include: the film's World Premiere at the 2010 Glasgow Film Festival; its U.S. Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival; and its upcoming screening at the Chicago International Film Festival on October 8.

LEGACY was written, directed, co-produced and co-edited by Thomas Ikimi, a young British filmmaker who raised the entire production and post-production budget in his homeland of Nigeria. Through his relationship with Ikimi, Idris Elba joined the project as its star and executive producer, alongside Black Camel producers Arabella Page-Croft and Kieran Parker.

Playing the character of Malcolm Gray – who is waging an excruciating psychological battle with himself while confronting a terrifying political conspiracy – was incredibly rewarding as an actor, said Idris Elba. Great credit is due to Thomas and the superior cast and crew for delivering an intelligent, gripping and fast-paced thriller that's very much of our time.

Malcolm Gray (Elba) is a decorated anti-terrorist black-ops soldier who is captured and tortured when a military effort to bring down an international arms dealer goes horribly awry. Barely surviving this traumatizing incident, Gray finds himself back in his Brooklyn apartment struggling to overcome severe paranoia and anxiety. Isolated and left alone to cope with his demons, Gray reflects on the assignment gone wrong – and starts questioning the loyalties of his own brother, a U.S. senator about to launch a presidential campaign.
