More Casting for Disney's 'Mars'
August 25th 2009 04:34
Disney’s John Carter of Mars, adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs book series, directed by Andrew Stanton (WALL-E), signed up three English actors: Samantha Morton, Dominic West and Polly Walker.
It appears the casting for Mars is moving along nicely with Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe already on board. The story follows a Civil War veteran (Kitsch) who finds himself inexplicably transported to Mars, where he becomes involved with the planet's warring people.
Morton is set to play Sola, the daughter of Dafoe's Tars Tarkas. She must hide her gentle side from her war-making race.
West is set to play Sab Than, prince of the Zodangans who strongly feels he is entitled to rule Mars.
Walker is set to play Sarkoja, a heartless, domineering Thark.
Stanton wrote the screenplay and, hopefully, production of the film will start early next year.
