Harry Potter 7 Part 1 Scored $24 Mil at Midnight Runs
November 20th 2010 07:41
I was at 12:01am showing of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 midnight run. I am still giddy over the movie. It's not the book, but I loved the movie.
I don't want to offer any spoilers, so I will keep it general. I am still electrified from the experince of being in a sold out movie theater filled with Harry Potter fans.
The best part about being at the midnight run of Harry Potter is that the theater was packed with Harry Potter fans, like me. Everyone there is there to have a great time, scream, cheer, and applause.
Variety reports that Harry Potter 7 Pt. 1 launch 3,700 midnight runs with a take of $24 million. The ushe at the theater where I saw the 12:01am run told me that 2,500 people were attending one of many Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 showings at that theater alone.
The movie screened at a record-setting 238 domestic IMAX screenings, contributing $1.4 million, which surpassed Warner Bros. previous $1 million midnight record holder The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
However, Hallows fell short of catching Eclipse's $30 million late-night record.
