Movie Roar - Hear the Movies Roar!

Green Lantern Trailer is Spectacular - Must See

May 4th 2011 17:14

Ryan Reynolds is looking awfully yummy in his green suit, but we are in for a treat girls. We get to see him sans clothes, not bad either.

Enough of that dithering, this is a spectacular trailer with all the whiz bangs needed to sell the movie. Did I say there were special effects!? Yup, lots and lots of computer generated images with some talented actors are more than enough to create a movie worth seeing. Here are some details:

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers.

Man, talk about cartoony! Looks spectacularly silly! The superhero movies are coming thick and fast now, it's hard to keep up!

Bryn,

Yes, it does look cartoony.

Great way to describe the superhero movies: thick and fast.

Marvel Studios The Avengers has started production. That movie has a handful of superheros all repeats from other movies: Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk. Hawkeye is the only new one in the movie.

Have you seen Thor yet?

Yes, seen Thor, enjoyed it a lot. I've seen both Iron Man movies too, the first one was very enjoyable indeed. I've only seen the first Hulk, and didn't think much of it. I'd like to see the Ed Norton one.
I'm hoping they might one day make my fave super-anti-hero, Man-Wolf.

Bryn, I am not familiar with Man-Wolf, but heard the name before. I like the anti-hero idea. The first Iron Man was good, a novelty.

Aren't all the comic-book adaptations novelties?

I guess, you could say that, they are different in their own way. But Iron Man is an anti-hero more so in the first one than the second.

Superman has been done so many times. You can't call it a novelty.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the original version is in comic book form, so any deviation from that can be considered a "novelty". I'm looking forward to Zack Snyder's take on Superman. And I'm growing into the idea of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman for Nolan's third Batman movie. I still reckon Rowan Atkinson would have made a brilliant Riddler.

Bryn,

I see what you mean about comic book form being the novelty.

I was referring to the style of Iron Man where moviegoers who don't read comic books were given something new - in the film business - "new" doesn't last does it?
