Giveaway -- Isla Fisher in Criminal Ways
January 4th 2010 06:05
Somehow this movie seems rather crazy and extremely silly. A gang of would-be thieves gets far more than they bargained for when they undertake Criminal Ways. Suburban song-and-dance man Danny (Nick Giannopoulos, who also directed) has all the passion and devotion in the world for the performing arts, but not a lick of talent. His career – teaching at his showbiz mother’s theatrical school – is going nowhere. But everything changes when Danny is hired to turn a clan of shady crooks into a children’s performing group.
The gang, led by hardened criminal Marcus (Russell Dystra), looks to infiltrate billionaire Aurora Van Dyke’s (Lena Cruz) grandson’s birthday party and steal her multi-million dollar diamond necklace. Danny is reluctant to go along with the plan, and then he meets Marcus’ enchanting sister Kirsty (Isla Fisher, Confessions of a Shopaholic). Sure enough we witness love at first sight. Danny’s all in and The Wannabes are born.
The intended heist is horribly bungled but The Wannabes – including last minute replacement Danny – turn out to be a tremendous hit! Soon swamped with bookings, TV appearances, magazine covers and chart-topping CDs, the would-be criminals find a lucrative new profession.
But the past has a way of catching up to you and soon they’re back in the crime game putting their new-found fame and fortune – not to mention the joy of thousands of little fans –all on the line.
Does this sound like a crazy movie? Good.
