American Girl: Felicity is Joyful
March 17th 2011 06:03
My daughter and I sat down and watched Felicity: An American Girl Adventure, which comes in a Deluxe Edition on DVD in celebration of the 25th Anniversary.
Warner Bros. sent me the DVD to view with my daughter. My daughter enjoyed it very much as I did.
The story follows Felicity Merriman, a 10 year-old girl who’s as spirited and independent as the American colonies she lives in, but very kind and generous. When Felicity meets Penny, a beautiful copper colored mare, she knows with all her heart that she must free Penny from her cruel owner. This was my daughter’s favorite part where Felicity has secret meetings with Penny, training the horse to like her, so she could ride her.
The movie is entertaining while being somewhat of a history lesson because the story takes place during America's revolution in the 1700s. My daughter enjoyed the historical part as well because she recently studied the subject in school.
Academy Award winning actress Marisa Gay Harden (Pollack) plays Felicity’s mother, Harden is so natural as an actress. She was fun to watch playing a gentle woman of the colonies.
The DVD is worth a look for anyone or any young girl who loves horses, history and American Girl dolls and is now available on DVD.
