Director Wes Anderson Talks with Rose about Mr. Fox

I went and saw Fantastic Mr. Fox and laughed so hard and so good -- pure entertainment. My daughter loved it so much, too. On the drive home from the movie she and I repeated couple of scenes and just kept laughing. She even told her dad about the funny scenes. We all laughed. I am going to by the DVD when it comes out. It’s a keeper.
Meryl Streep, who was the voice for Mrs. Fox, was brilliant. I couldn’t tell it was her. You know how her voice is distinct? In the movie, the voice fit the character. It wasn’t Streep’s voice being Mrs. Fox. It’s hard to explain, but I was impressed.
Director Wes Anderson was on ‘Charlie Rose’ last night to discuss his new film The Fantastic Mr. Fox.
On deciding to make The Fantastic Mr. Fox this is what Anderson had to say:
“Well, it’s a book I read as a child. Maybe the -- it’s the first book that was technically considered my property in our household, has my name on it. And I’ve loved it all my life. I have the same copy that I had when I was a kid and I’ve kept it on my shelves wherever I’ve lived. And at a certain point I decided I wanted to work in stop motion, which is like a very old-fashioned kind of filmmaking technique. But I wanted to do a stop motion movie with fur, puppets with fur. And that was literally the thing I wanted to do, and this is the right book for that.” - Anderson
