Mamet Tells Anne Franks Story
August 13th 2009 02:54
Disney acquired the movie rights to The Diary of Anne Frank, so Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet can write and direct a new version of the famed diary.
Anne Frank is a tragic story about the two years her family hid in a secret attic in Amsterdam before the young 15 year old Jewish girl died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
Mamet approach to the movie includes blending the famed diary and the stage adaptation by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich while mixing in his own original take on the material, reframing the story as a young girl's rite of passage.
