Scott Attached to Alien Prequel

Twentieth Century Fox must believe that science fiction movies with a touch of horror compel people to the movie theaters because the studio is putting life back into the Alien franchise. The resuscitation starts with Jon Spaihts who is writing the prequel that has Ridley Scott attached to return as director.
The film focuses on what happened before the 1979 groundbreaking film that Scott directed. Scott’s film followed the crew of a commercial towing ship returning to Earth. They are awakened and sent to respond to a distress signal from a nearby planetoid. The crew discovers too late that the signal generated by an empty ship was meant to warn them.
It's interesting that Fox gets a chance to keep the Alien franchise alive and that Scott has decided to direct an Alien movie again. It will be interesting to see what Scott can do with this franchise. He’s such a smart and strong director. Blade Runner and Thelma and Louise are fine examples of his work.
