A Cinderella Story with a Modern Musical Twist
October 11th 2011 07:07
The classic Cinderella story gets a modern musical twist from Warner Premiere’s fairytale A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song on DVD and digital download from Warner Home Entertainment Group.
This new music filled take on the classic Cinderella story tells the story of Katie and her ups and downs of finding true love and embracing her musical talent. Lucy Hale stars as downtrodden teen Katie, Freddie Stroma as Luke, the new transfer student from Europe, Megan Park as Katie’s wicked stepsister, Titus Makin, Jr. as Mickey, Luke’s entrepreneurial front man, and Missi Pyle as Katie’s cruel stepmother and school headmaster.
A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song is directed by Damon Santostefano and the movie is very entertaining for both my daughter and her friends. It is without a doubt the first movie they pick to watch when she has a sleepover.
My daughter is familiar with all the latest Cinderella story remakes, but she says this one close to being the best. It’s a modern and enchanting twist on an enduring classic. Katie dreams of being a recording artist but is continually thwarted by her cruel stepmother and stepsister. When Katie falls hard for Luke, the new boy at her Performing Arts school, she tries to get his attention with her singing.
But when her stepsister takes credit for Katie’s amazing voice and Luke falls for the wrong girl, Katie must learn to stand up for her dreams before her stepmother forces Katie to sing Luke into the arms of her wicked stepsister at the Winter Talent Showcase.
